Teaming Up Biography: Thanks for filling out the Teaming Up - Survey

From Alison
TEAM ROSTER: We've had four to six cooks. Some are housewives/mothers. Others are in full time jobs. Most are wives. We cook occasionally. Good occasions are when someone is having a baby soon.
TEAM CAPTAIN: I usually put recipe options out there for people to choose from, and based on the interest, select the final recipes. I have co-shopped with one of the team members who has a Costco membership. Finances are usually done by the person who paid for most of the shopping.
WINNING SCORE: I like the fellowship we get from cooking together. I also love the easy and great tasting recipes we make. I like having the conveniece of a prepared meal all ready to go for unexpected dinners.

From Kelly
TEAM ROSTER: we are a group of only 2!!!
TEAM CAPTAIN: our taste are so close that we both "post-it notr" what sounds good and choose on shopping day what REALLY sounds good. With both of us working full time it is who is off the day before cooking day
WINNING SCORE: have the site avaliable for questions and knowing you are there!

From Lisa
TEAM ROSTER: 8 cooks, 3 special needs drivers, 2 nurses, secretary, 2 housewives
TEAM CAPTAIN: We all get together and figure out how many recipes we want to do last time it was 8 dinners. We all shopped ourselves and cooked and met again to exchange.
WINNING SCORE: I love coming home for work and knowing I do not have to think about dinner. Teaming up means I dont have to make so many dinners on my own.

I'm so excited! My girlfriends and I have planned our first freezer-party! We all had a little bit of knowledge of freezer cooking, but your site has helped us pull it all together so we can work together and have fun with this! Thank you for this great resource!! (my husband and children thank you too LOL)

Another fun day in the Naresh kitchen. Today the Team made Sweet & Sour Sauce, Apple Cider Pantry Packets, and Perfectly Pink Salad Dressing. Everyone went home with yummy’s for only $5.00.

You have inspired freezer cooking mania here in Minneapolis :) We have a group of 5 ladies that are starting to get together every 4 -6 weeks to put together meals. Thanks!!

I make hummus and freeze it in lunch size portions. When I pack my lunch for work I throw some in along with veggies and I'm on my way to a healthy lunch.
Freezing hummus has worked well and does not separate or lose its creamy consistency. I cook my beans instead of buying canned and keep my cost very low.

I'm totally hooked on freezer cooking! I did a cook day last week with a friend and put 35 meals in the freezer @ $3.04/meal! Most of them were marinades for the grill or things for the slow cooker ... trying not to turn on the oven in the summer heat. Plus, a bbq is always a good idea! It's so nice to just pull something out and now that it will be delicious!!!

On Monday morning Jenni and I cooked 9 lasagna’s in less than an hour and a half. By 10am we had finished and were off to our other tasks and activities. Our children enjoyed playing while we prepared 9 meals. My family ate one lasagna that night and shared one with a family who just had a baby.

Cooking with friends is so fun. You get to talk and laugh while assembling meals. A party with a purpose. Preparing one recipe makes the planning and shopping simple. Preping the meat the day before can be done anytime. Our children entertained themselves very well for an hour and half.

Planning a Cookoff is smart because you share the shopping, prepping, and cost of meals between two people or more.

Today a friend and I got together to put together 100 meals! It felt SO great to drive home this evening knowing I had 50 meals in my trunk. With a day of shopping, 1/2 a day of prep, and less than 8 hours of cooking, mixing and packaging - it was well worth the work!!! There is a great sale on meat this week, so if I buy a bit more and get some marinades ready, I hope to not cook again for 3 months.

Sometimes I wonder if all the planning will make me crazy, but in the end, it is all worth it!! I have been freezer cooking for 6 months now, and I don't think I could every go back. My food budget is FINALLY doable and under control, I have re-claimed my evenings with my family, and I still have fun and flavorful dinners on the table.

Five friends and I started a cooking club. We each prepare 6 batches of one recipe per month, freeze them, and meet once a month to exchange our meals and choose the next month's menu. It's been a huge time saver, a huge money saver (buying things in bulk), and a great way to keep in touch with friends. Over the past 9 months, we've found 25 recipes that we truly love and want to repeat. I will be checking back here frequently for tips and recipes!

The year I got married I decided to freezer cook stew, chili, and a macaroni casserole for the winter while my new hubby went fishing one weekend. I was going to do it alone but after every pot and bowl in the house was full of ingredients in some stage of preperation and I needed more, I called my mom to come help. She brought over some larger pots and bowls as well as a pair of helping hands and together we filled my new (wedding gift) freezer. Thanks Mom!
